Jackpot (2012)
This is a quick, focused, and full nine minute film about not only being comfortable with who you are but about being courageous about it as well.
Synopsis: It’s 1994 and there’s no internet, so when closeted 14-year-old Jack Hoffman hears about a stash of porno hidden across town, he decides to brave the bully infested streets of his small New Jersey town, in hopes of getting what he wants. What happens over the course of the day will change everything.
The theme is about finding the courage to be oneself. Even in a small part of life (like finding a porno stash) we can defend who we are and the choices we make. Jack learns this from his actions, from the bullies who chase him, and the part of his mind that is a multi-talented porno star. Sometimes we lose the fight, but win the war and get what we want in the end.
One of the best short films in recent memory. Recommended.
